Companion Therapy Laser
Companion Therapy Laser is a drug free, surgery free, relief for your pet. How it works… The laser light is delivered through a noninvasive handpiece to treat the affected area. Your pet may feel gentle and soothing warmth. Most treatments take a matter of minutes.
What is Laser Therapy? Class IV Deep Tissue Laser Therapy uses a beam of laser light to deeply penetrate tissue without damaging it. Laser energy induces a biological response in the cells called “photo-bio-modulation”, which leads to reduced pain, reduced inflammation, and increased healing speed.
Laser Therapy has been scientifically proven to be successful in treating post-surgical pain and many acute and chronic conditions. The following is a list of some common conditions Laser Therapy may be helpful for.

At Buckner Animal Clinic we have a modern 300 ma x-ray machine that provides good images with rare earth screens enabling the doctors to obtain diagnostic information from the chest, abdomen, and skeletal structures. Some conditions require contrast studies such as barium series of the gastrointestinal tract or pneumocystograms (air is the contrast) of the bladder. Other cases are best imaged with ultrasound studies. Although we do not employ a sonographer the doctors are able to order ultrasound studies through a mobile service. Your pet friend is examined by a licensed sonographer who brings the equipment to the clinic then uploads that information to a specialist who in turn talks to the doctor of record.
The pharmacy at Buckner Animal Clinic keeps a wide range of pharmaceuticals and nutriceuticals for the care of your pet. It stocks the drugs and products the doctors require to provide surgical services and hospital care, for heartworm and parasite control, for preventive immunizations, and to dispense for outpatient care. The retail area stocks an assortment of products for skin care, external parasites, and nutritional support. The staff is trained so that they are able to answer questions and provide suggestions in the retail area.
The in house laboratory at Buckner Animal Clinic provides the doctors with immediate information and makes it possible to make a presumptive diagnosis and begin treatment the same day for patients that are not well.
Our technicians are able to collect the samples we need and the equipment is updated as needed. These tests include complete blood cell counts, numerous biochemistries, electrolytes, and urinalyses. We also stock an assortment of commercial test kits to test for canine parvovirus, heartworm, Lymes disease, canine ehrlichiosis, feline leukemia and FIV, and ringworm as well as others.
The doctors at Buckner Animal Clinic also have access to reference laboratories that provide more information and more "bang for your dollar". Since time is not as critical in well pets, these labs provide our Wellness Testing for junior and senior pets at very affordable prices. The reference lab is also our source for more specialized diagnostic testing.
Hospital and Boarding
At Buckner Animal Clinic we have separate facilities for hospitalization and boarding. On the hospital side we have Intensive Care Cages of different sizes and an Isolation Ward with cages of various sizes. The Intensive Care Cages are in the treatment-surgery suite and most surgical cases recover there. These cages can provide external heat and work well with our intravenous pumps. The Isolation Ward is adjacent behind a glass door and is used for potentially contagious diseases. The hospital ward also has 3'X7' runs for our larger patients.
The boarding kennel has fourteen 3'X7' runs to accommodate our canine guests. Smaller dogs enjoy stainless steel cages with padding. Cats are frequently housed in another bank of cages that does not permit sight of the dogs or we can convert the Isolation Ward to a kitty condo when not needed for treatment. The entire facility is indoor under central air and heat. The staff walks dogs in the grassy area behind the clinic two to three times daily.
The doctors at Buckner Animal Clinic are well experienced (with 81 years of accumulated experience) in performing all types of surgical procedures including everyday surgeries such as sterilizations and ear trims. More complicated and delicate surgeries such as tumor removals, mastectomies, abdominal procedures, and fracture repairs fill out the surgery schedule. Ceasarian sections and other emergency procedures are also accommodated.
Unless it is an emergency, surgeries are scheduled by appointment and performed in the mornings Monday through Friday. Most surgeries require fasting (no food or water) 8 to 12 hours before surgery. We recommend Pre-surgical blood testing to check for any abnormalities in your pet. While any procedure involves risk, preoperative
Examinations and laboratory tests help to assess those risks during surgery or recovery. The surgical suite is comprised of a prep area for sedation and getting your pet ready for surgery; the surgery room contains oxygen, inhalant anesthesia, and a real time monitor of your pet's heart rate and blood oxygen level. Pain management is a priority and your pet is monitored during recovery and medicated as needed.
A surgical release form is necessary and should be read and signed prior to admitting your pet for surgery or treatment. Many surgeries are released the evening of the procedure. At discharge a technician will discuss any medications and home care. Feel free to ask any question regarding you pet's surgery and aftercare.
